《 Ukulele - CP3 - Fingerboard/Fretboard 》

◆ Fret Slotting

Fretboard will be cut to 60mm wide, 230mm long and thicknessed to 3 to 4mm.
Scribe fret line squre to upper side of the board with most precision.

When slotting StewMc's miter box as cutting zig can be used that greatly helps slotting.
The saw must be placed on a center of scribed line. You should make sure over and over if the saw is correctly on the fret line.

◆ Position Markers

Pearl dot markers to be used are natural shells of 4mm in diameter and 2mm of thickness.
Draw a diagonal line where position markers are placed between the frets.
Drill to a depth just a little less than the thickness of the markers that would be 1.5 to 1.7mm.

Cut the outline drawn on the fingerboard after glueing position marks.

◆ Fretting

A fretboard should be sanded and polished before fretting.
When fretting, it is recommended to hammer one end of the fret, then go to the center of the fret and then the other end of the fret.
Make sure the fret be seated firmly in the slot.

Cut excess of the fret wire which sticks out from the board.
The ends of the frets are to be filed at an angle of 30 to 40 degrees to the board.

Finished fretboard made of ebony on top,palisander/rose wood next and teak wood made fretboard below.

You could recognize some small failures in fretting, installing markers.
